What is the Fear of the Lord?

Read Time | 52 Seconds

This is one of my favorite topics and one thing we must clarify is that the fear of the Lord is not legalism. So many people think the fear of the Lord looks like Him telling us, “don’t do this” and “don’t do that.” I believe that the fear of the Lord is this — falling madly in love with Jesus and not wanting to hurt His heart by doing the things that you shouldn’t do. The motivation for why we live clean, why we live righteously, why we sell out to know God more is not so that we can upkeep the to-do list, but it’s so that we totally respect and honor our King. As we respect and honor our King, He empowers us to live righteously. He empowers us to live victoriously.

I believe there’s a whole generation that’s going to do all the right things, not because someone legalistically told them to, but because they’ve fallen so madly in love with their King that they don’t want to hurt His heart by doing the things that they shouldn’t be doing. I pray that you would have that kind of intimacy with the Father, in Jesus’ name.
