The 8 Times Jesus Bled (6min)

Article by Jerame Nelson

Demons flee and darkness runs when we plead the blood of Jesus. His blood is more powerful than any force in the universe that comes against us!

These are the eight times Jesus bled so that you could live in a place of victory, wholeness and freedom:

  1. The Stripes on His Back

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 AMP

Jesus bled from the stripes in His back so that we would walk in complete healing.

I remember one time I prayed for someone who had cancer. They were not immediately healed so I told them to plead the blood over themselves daily.  Every day, they would put their hand on their chest and pray: “I plead the blood over the cancer. I thank you that the blood of Jesus is more than enough to heal. I receive my healing in Jesus name.” Do you know what happened? In 30 days, the cancer was completely gone! The blood of Jesus is a powerful means of breakthrough and healing.

2. The Bruising Within

Watch Jerame’s powerful sermon on “The Blood and The Testimony” from Fire & Glory Outpouring Night 1338!

Did you know Jesus was struck so hard that He was bruised internally? Jesus was “wounded for our transgressions.” (see Isaiah 53:5 above.) He already covered and released healing to those internal iniquities and all of the hurts within our hearts and souls.

3. The Crown of Thorns on His Head

“…and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.” Matthew 27:29-30 NIV

When Adam fell into sin in the garden, there was a curse that we would have to work with sweat of our brow. Thorns and thistles were released that would choke out fruitfulness. When the soldiers put the crown of thorns on Jesus’ head and hit Him on the head, the devil was overplaying his cards. He played right into God’s plan. Once and for all Jesus broke the curse of thorns and thistles off the church and released the blessing of heaven. He reversed the effects of what sin did. Jesus broke off poverty, that His church would walk in prosperity. Not just in finances.

“Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].” 3 John 1:2 AMP

Jesus wants you to prosper in your health, in your soul and in your spirit! How many of you know the parable of the sower in Matthew 13?

“The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.”  Matthew 13:22 NIV

I believe the thorns and thistles are the cares and worries of this life. God wants to remove our fears and worries. His blood already paid for it. When those every day stresses and worries come in, make a decision to plead the blood and get into His presence. It’s the power of the blood that overcomes worry!

4. The Sweat in the Garden

Jesus sweated blood so that you don’t have to sweat! He took that fear and anxiety. There is an actual medical condition where capillaries burst in the skin in moments of extreme fear. I believe that Jesus took the wrath of the Father upon Himself in the Garden of Gethsemane so we wouldn’t have to go through it.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 NIV

If you are living in sin, you are always under oppression and anxiety and fear, but Jesus broke that curse. There is no peace outside of Jesus! You can try to find it in yoga, sex or the bars but those are just temporary fixes that lead to death. The only thing that satisfies is Jesus!

5. The Nails in His Hands

Jesus’ hands were pierced so you can reach out and release His power to others through your hands.

“His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden.” Habbakuk 3:4 NIV

God’s power was hidden in Jesus’ hands. Because His hands were nailed to the cross, we have access to the throne so we could release His goodness and power to those around us. The blood of Jesus positions us to ascend the hill of the Lord.

“Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.” Psalm 24:3-4 NIV

His hands were bloody so ours could be cleansed. Jesus’ blood gives us access to the throne so we too can release the power of God to those around us. We can cast out demons, heal the sick and raise the dead like Jesus did through His hands.

6. The Nails in His Feet

Jesus’ feet were pierced so that we could take back what the devil stole and walk in authority. There’s a difference when you change the atmosphere or the atmosphere overtakes you.

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 NIV

Everywhere we walk, we should bring the good news of the Kingdom. Jesus’ feet bled so that we could walk in our destinies. We get to be the voice of good news. We get to release His resurrection power and life.

7. The Spear in His Side

I had an open vision on Yom Kippur of the Roman soldier who came and pushed the spear in Jesus’ side. I believe it is a year of Jesus’ blood and water. The blood of Jesus represents forgiveness and the washing away of sin. It’s the move of God. The water represents the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It’s the water of life.

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38 NIV

When we embrace Jesus as Lord, the blood and the water flow down from the throne and into our lives. There is nothing that can block His outpouring.

8. The Plucking of His Beard

“I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.” Isaiah 50:6 NIV

Jesus did not hide His face from shame. When He bled from His beard, He overcame shame, fear and a mocking spirit from our lives. Did you know we have authority in the flesh? If we speak against someone, we can release the accuser of the brethren. The blood of Jesus is more than enough to remove shame and that religious mocking spirit.

Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:7 NIV

When you understand the power of Jesus’ blood and plead it over yourself and others, God’s going to anoint your hands to be the hands of Jesus. He’s going to anoint your feet to bring the good news of the Kingdom, He’s going to pour out His spirit freely on you like the blood and water flowed from His side. He’s going to break the spirit of poverty. Jesus removed shame, worry and fear from you. Jesus bled eight times for you. I pray you will walk in the freedom He has already paid for!
