3 Blessings Released Through Fire (3min)

In Matthew 3:11-12, John the Baptist prophesies:
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
I want to talk about that “and fire” part! Jesus wants to release three blessings from His fire that will advance you into a greater realm of intimacy with Him.
1. His fire refines our hearts.
“Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem. The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire” Isaiah 4:3-4 NIV
The spirit of burning comes into your life to burn away anything and everything that would hold you back from Him. When I got saved, I got set free from drugs, alcohol and pornography. For me, God burned away the filth instantly and I’ve never went back! Some of you need to ask God for that refiner’s fire too. There’s a realm of glory that comes like a canopy when you begin to receive His spirit of fire.
2. His fire seals God’s love in us.

“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.” Song of Solomon 8:6 NIV
There is a fire of love that God wants to give you. Before you can be used by God in acts of service, God wants to seal your heart so that you can carry His glory. I believe that seal upon your arm is the anointing from God to reach out to others in acts of service. If your heart is fully His then He will fully put an anointing on you to impact the world.
3. His fire unleashes bold confidence in Him.

In Isaiah 6, the prophet has an encounter with the Lord in the throne room. When he was there, he was aware of his humanity. He was aware of his sin. He did not feel confident to be in the Presence. God sent an angel with a coal of fire to touch his lips and instantly all of that sin-consciousness was burned away and He heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Who will go for me?” Any place where there has been shame or condemnation, God will burn it away so that you can be a clear sounding trumpet for Jesus. Everywhere you go, you move in His power.
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:5-8 NIV
Keep it Simple…
If you are willing to go and do things for the King, He is willing to give you the spirit of burning. God wants to purify you with the refiner’s fire, draw you close to His heart and seal your heart with His glory so you can serve others with the seal on your arm. God wants to mark you with the fire of His love as a messenger to be a voice for His kingdom.
