What Are You Building On? (3min)
Article by Jerame Nelson
When architects of old constructed temples and palaces, the cornerstone used to be the most beautiful work of the building. It was the first piece laid down and it had to be crafted in perfection, perfectly level and in it’s perfect place. If not, the entire building could not be completed. Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone and nothing works unless our lives are built upon Him.
“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”
Ephesians 2:19-22 NIV
God is releasing the prophetic revelation of Jesus, the Chief Cornerstone. Catch it! This is the foundation that unlocks the prophetic. It unlocks the apostolic and it unlocks the destiny of His burning ones!
One of my friends who is an architect laid the foundation of a client’s house and it was off by 4 inches. It doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but it absolutely was! My friend had to completely change the entire plans of the house the client once wanted because their original plans would no longer fit on the foundation he had built.
What are you building on?
Many people have plans in their hearts of what they want to do for God, but they are not in His plans. It is a choice to lay down what we want and change our plans according to His desires. Sometimes we have to change our plans based on the Word of God and the prophetic word that He releases. If it takes you months to obey His words, you are building your house on the sand. When you hear His voice, do it. We are only as strong as the Word foundation in our hearts.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Matthew 7:24-27 NIV
We are not called to build our house, we are building the Father’s house that is built upon Jesus. Jesus was the prophetic, signs, wonders and miracles. He was the Word. Build upon that. Build upon Him. If you know who you are and Whose you are, and you are standing on the Cornerstone, you will not be moved because God will not be moved on the inside of you. On this foundation, your citizenship of Heaven starts to shine. Once you know this truth and begin to live it, you are unstoppable. No matter which tests come, His House stands. Together, we are being built as God’s temple and He is refining us as He builds His house.
“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
1 Peter 2:4-6 NIV
Keep It Simple…
Build your life upon Jesus, the Chief Cornerstone. Let’s get back to prayer, our love for Jesus, and a love for His Word. Let Him smooth your rough edges as He crafts you as a spiritual stone to build His house. When you build upon the Rock, you live as a carrier of His presence for His glory!
