Overcome the Religious Spirit with Joy (3min)

Jesus came to set at liberty those who were oppressed! He wants you to walk in joy and freedom and release that same anointing to the world around you.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19 NIV
Captives are those who have demonic issues, but let’s focus on oppression, which has to do with the religious spirit.
What’s the religious spirit?
In the Bible, the Pharisees bound people by the letter of the law under the religious spirit. The Pharisees’ goal was to oppress society and elevate themselves. They thought they were living in obedience to every letter of the law. Focused on the “dos” and “don’ts,” the Pharisees spread their vinegar of religion that ended up just leaving people with a bad taste in their mouth.
Pharisees and religious people are still around today. They preach the “dos” and “don’ts” and hold people back in the orphan spirit. Legalism doesn’t produce fruit. Condemnation is a trap. When the devil is bringing up old sins from 5 years ago and you have already repented, rebuke the devil and rest in the knowledge that your past sin is under the blood of Christ. The Holy Spirit will bring conviction, but also brings you right to the Father to restore closeness with Him.

In extreme contrast to the Pharisees, Jesus came to set at liberty those who were oppressed! He taught the truth of the Word by revelation. Jesus was focused on a lifestyle of intimacy that expresses and reveals God instead of just talking about God. Jesus came to preach the gospel of love and to connect us into relationship with the Father. He came to break off the religious oppression and release joy. He declared the goodness of His Father.
Fruit is a natural repercussion of intimacy with the Father. God wants to develop friendship with you and share the secrets of His heart. He wants to break off fear, shame and condemnation. He came to proclaim the year of Jubilee!
What is Jubilee?

Jubilee is the year of favor. It’s a year when debts are forgiven and everyone gets a fresh start.
God wants to push the reset button in your life. When you receive Jesus as Lord, Savior and King, you have salvation that releases jubilee into their life. It sets you free from all the religious oppression, from all the sin, the fear, the condemnation. Once free from condemnation, the heavens are wide open and everything in the Kingdom will flow to you and through you.
Keep It Simple…
God wants to produce the same realm of sonship that Jesus walked out in your life. Joy is released in place of religious oppression. Spread Jesus’ message of jubilee, life and favor to the world around you.
